In celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Congregational Concerts, the First Church Choir and soloists, joined by the period-instrument ensemble Chatham Baroque, present Johann Sebastian Bach’s epic masterpiece Mass in B Minor, BWV 232 on Sunday, March 13 at 4 pm. This historically informed presentation of the Mass in B Minor marks the very first period-instrument performance of the work in Central Ohio. The complete mass was finished in 1749, the year before the composer’s death, however, much of the work comes from his earlier compositions from the 1720s and 1730s. Regarded in many circles as the ultimate masterpiece by the finest composer of Western music, the Mass in B Minor is a work of monumental proportions.
You will not want to miss this rare opportunity to experience the Baroque splendor of this masterpiece. Plan now to attend what will surely be a standing-room-only audience.
